ABSTRACT - The patterns have their place in the development process, as their advantages are essential to improve the quality, extensibility, and adaptability of the designing systems. The popular methodologies are determined by a research for the patterns use in Bulgarian companies developing software. In the article these methodologies are review and are compare their ability to include a patterns approach. It has been found that the patterns can improve some aspects of methodologies. RUP and flexible methodologies are the most appropriate to include an approach to patterns use. These methodologies are based on the UML approach, support the MDD and are flexible enough.
