ABSTRACTThe article analyzes the social role of fashion. This analysis is far from purely theoretical. With regard to the growing and expanding impact of fashion on social life, its importance is at the heart of applied research in the field of textile design. The tendencies that, according to the author, determine five main social functions of fashion in the modern world are analyzed. The synergistic nature of fashion as well as its impact on different spheres of human life has been studied.
