ECONOMIC IMPACTS AND BENEFITS OF DEVELOPMENT OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE SECTOR IN BULGARIA

ABSTRACT - The aim of the paper is to present a study of the economic influence of food and beverage sector. In this regard, some benefits of the development of food and beverage sector to the economy of a particular country - Bulgaria - for the period of 2000-2014 are revealed. The economic impact of development of food and beverage sector could be studied through the analysis of particular data of the country by using some economic indicators. In the paper two economic indicators are used, namely: the expense incurred by tourists on services related to food and beverage; and production of food and beverage enterprises. The analysis uses data that is available on the web--site of National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria (www.nsi.bg) at the end of May, 2016. The results show that there is an economic development of the food and beverage sector in Bulgaria for the period 2000-2014. The authorities should consider the results of the study and develop appropriate policies and measures to sustain and promote the growth in order sustainable economic development in the territory of the country to be achieved.
